Job Description

The Operations Engineer/SRE is responsible for the stability, security, and availability of their assigned product(s) and platform(s).This position is responsible for measuring and reporting back to the business KPIS such as security, availability, user experience and product stability.This position requires effective communication in order to collaborate succinctly with other members of teams such as systems engineers, database administrators, network engineers, data center operations, information security, etc.The development of software and deployment of that software is increasingly intertwined, so intense collaboration between the SRE team and development to ensure operational issues are addressed and considered both in new architectures and deployment strategies for releases is of the utmost importance.Essential Functions: Provide high quality technical support to customers and internal staff Independently research solutions, troubleshoot and resolve complex problems by analyzing product and network data .Oversee proactive efforts in order to protect product availability and performance Analyze and understand the experience of the top customers of the platform Participate in Product Development Provide operational requirements needed to run production systems and drive operational processes, standards and priorities. Review and sign off on BRD and functional specs / designs. Review and update technical documentation and procedures Develop scripts and utilities to support the platform Pre-Release and Release activities Creates rollout plan strategy, schedule Post-Release activities Owns day to day proactive operations Provides subject matter expertise for productionQualifications: Experience and Education (minimums) Prefer BS in Computer Science / Engineering or related field or equivalent experience/skills 3+ years managing large complex environments, changes and code deployments Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Skilled at working cross-functionally to achieve project success Team player focused on team success above individual achievement Passion for automation and a reluctance for manual implementationStrong philosophy of continuous improvement Strong sense of ownership wanting to understand how things work and resolve root causes Ability to encourage and foster a culture of visibility and transparency across teams Proven experience in troubleshooting and problem solving Familiarity with programming; go, python, perl, etc. Can read code at a high level and potentially contribute/script. Demonstrable knowledge of networking and network protocols
