Are you living your lifes work Position Description: Penn Medicine is looking for a software developer interested in building and supporting custom in house applications! Responsible for technical design, development (database and/or GUI), and support of UPHS Inter- and intranet infrastructure, applications (clinical and non-clinical), and other components and processes. Participate with sponsors and staff delegated by sponsor in planning, development of specifications, project plans, and other supporting documentation and processes. Responsible for maintenance of existing applications as well as new development. Aid in planning future infrastructure requirements. Minimum Requirements: Degree Requirements and Minimum Experience Required: B.S. in Computer or Information Science or a related field required. Current Internal Penn Medicine Information Services division employees may be considered with proof of active and continued enrollment in an approved bachelor degree program. Minimum 3 years software development experience required. Minimum 3 years of experience in Microsoft Visual Studio .Net (2005 or higher) required. Minimum 3 years of experience in MS SQL Server or equivalent required. Experience with database design required. Experience with challenging technical projects required. Required Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of SQL Server database design and advanced query techniques (eg, stored procedures, triggers, user defined scalar- and table-valued functions, etc.); MS SQL Server 2008 strongly preferred; Ability to develop web applications using VB or C#, ASP.NET, .Net Framework, CSS, Ajax, JQuery, JavaScript, IIS 6.0 or higher, etc. Ability to manage concurrent projects while meeting project deadlines; Detail oriented with the ability to work independently or as part of a team; Superior skills in providing project coding timeline estimates; Demonstrated experience in Object-Oriented Programming and Development Life Cycle Methodologies; Strong written and communication skills; ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff.Preferred Skills: Knowledge of healthcare operations, terminology, and data structures (eg, HL-7); Experience with SSIS and/or Reporting Services within MS SQL Server; Exposure to information system applications in the practicing healthcare and financial environment; for example, Epic Ambulatory EMR and Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager; Experience using Agile/Scrum development methodology; Experience using Jira; Experience with iOS application development; Exposure to and experience with MS SharePoint; Experience developing mobile web applications and sites. Good analytical and problem solving skills.
